I believe that Digital literacy is essential to learn in this day and age. I was not able to access the hangout- while I was able to see everyone, and they were able to see me,they were not able to hear me. I am not sure if it was a problem with my computer, or if I just didn't know how to access the hangout correctly. I can understand why some people get frustrated with technology- but it is becoming a necessity. I love the quote "Instead of leaving students behind, give them the tools to flouish". I would be very interested in learning more about professional dev/workshops on digitl literacy/incorporating technology into the classroom. I looked on both CREC and SERC - and only found a PD on how to use an ipad in the classroom. I believe that students need to utilize technology- as it is a requirement for most work places.

I agree, digital literacy is essential for students to succeed in the global economy. I am wondering if standards for digital literacy will be written into the CCSS. I also think it is necessary to provide teachers with professional development. Many teachers are reluctant to incorporate technology into their lessons. Technology and 21st Century Skills need to be embedded into the curriculum and therefor all children will have the opportunity to become digitally literate.
